The Department of Interior Architecture at KTU has adopted a student-oriented education approach. In this context, it is aimed to educate responsible students and researchers who use time well and acquire the knowledge and skills to transform scientific, technological, artistic, and intellectual dimensions into professional practice.
The undergraduate program aims to provide the interior architect candidate with the necessary skills and experience to design interiors that will improve the quality of life, increase productivity, and protect public safety and health. Interior architecture education adopts a holistic and participatory approach that prioritizes cooperation between different disciplines. In this line, it educates students about building science and technology, building theory of design, architectural history, and restoration. In addition, the holistic and participatory approach is reinforced by the participation of experienced freelance architects and interior architects in applied courses such as projects and graduation thesis. In this way, it is ensured that students have knowledge about the professional practice of experienced architects and interior architects.
Education in the Department of Interior Architecture consists of theoretical courses, workshops, seminars, demonstrations with visual expression tools and a graduation project. The education program has compulsory courses such as architectural design, building science and technology, building theory of design, history of architecture and art, equipment design, visual perception, aesthetics, interior organization, material-technology, restoration, and computer-aided design. In addition, students can register for elective courses from different fields.
On the other hand, teaching computer-aided design and computer language is one of the important goals in order to benefit from developing computer technology in the Department of Interior Architecture. For this reason, there are enough courses on computer-aided design (CAD) in the department where students can learn to complete their assignments, research, and designs in computer language. A group of experts in CAD within the department take part in these courses and research.
Double major, minor and transfer programs have been offered for students in the Department of Interior Architecture at KTU. In addition to international student exchange programs, successful students can transfer to another undergraduate program within the determined quotas.
