IMPORTANT NOTICE

The Second Additional Placement is open to those who previously applied but were not placed, as well as those who have never applied before. The final registration date has been set as October 21, 2025, which is the last day of late course registration. Students can check the starting dates of courses from the KTÜ Academic Calendar links provided below. It is important that they complete their final registration by this date to avoid delays in attending classes.

In accordance with the Turkish Citizenship Law, candidates who were Turkish citizens by birth but lost their citizenship by obtaining a renunciation permit from the Ministry of Interior, as well as those who hold a Blue Card (granted upon request to individuals who have lost Turkish citizenship), in addition to candidates with dual nationality (one of which is Turkish) who completed their entire high school education abroad (except TRNC high schools), and candidates who are Turkish citizens, should note the remaining quotas for the Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy programs as follows:

APPLICATION AND MAKING PREFERENCES (AUGUST 21 – SEPTEMBER 1, 2025)

ANNOUNCEMENT OF PLACEMENT RESULTS (SEPTEMBER 3, 2025)

ONLINE PRE-REGISTRATION (SEPTEMBER 5 – 18, 2025)

FINAL REGISTRATION PROCEDURE (SEPTEMBER 5 – OCTOBER 21, 2025)

EXPLANATIONS

a) For the 2025–2026 Academic Year, the Application, Placement, and Pre-Registration procedures for international students will be carried out online within the specified dates.

b) Before applying, candidates are strongly advised to carefully review the following webpage, which provides information such as the placement calendar, application requirements, tuition fees, and the minimum scores required for admission to each program in the previous year: https://www.ktu.edu.tr/oidb/uluslararasiogrenci, which will be useful during the application and registration process.

c) During the application evaluation process, candidates who upload incomplete, incorrect, or invalid documents will receive an error notification via the e-mail address they registered in the system. Therefore, candidates must frequently check their e-mails during the application period and, if they receive such a notification, correct the specified deficiencies and update their application. Applications that are not corrected within the application period will be deemed invalid.

d) If it is determined that a candidate has submitted fraudulent information/documents during the application process, their enrolment at our university will be cancelled—regardless of their stage of study—and legal proceedings will be initiated.

e) The photo uploaded to the system will later be used for student ID cards and all other official processes. Therefore, it must be biometric, taken within the last six months, and in a 4.5 x 6 cm size.

f) For final enrolment in the programs of Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering (30% English, undergraduate), Marine Engineering (undergraduate), and Marine Engineering Operations (associate degree), candidates are required to obtain a Seafarer’s Medical Certificate. In addition, a Seafarer’s Book is required to complete the program internship. (Seafarer’s Books, which are considered equivalent to a passport, can only be issued to citizens of the Republic of Türkiye, to citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) who are studying in or have graduated from maritime education programs in the Republic of Türkiye or in the TRNC, or to foreigners of Turkish origin within the scope of Law No. 2527 dated 25/09/1981 on the Freedom of Turkish-Origin Foreigners to Practice Their Professions and Arts in Türkiye and Their Employment in Public or Private Institutions or Workplaces. Foreign nationals who are studying or will study in maritime associate or undergraduate programs at higher education institutions in our country may, as a result of their maritime education, be entitled to sit for competency certificate examinations and may also be issued educational certificates appropriate to the training they have received. However, Seafarer’s Books cannot be issued to foreign nationals. Foreign nationals are required to request a Seafarer’s Book from the authorities of their own countries. Since some countries do not issue Seafarer’s Books to female students, it would be in their best interest to inquire with the relevant authorities in their own countries, prior to making their program preferences, as to whether or not they can obtain a Seafarer’s Book.)

g) Candidates placed in the Pharmacy program are required to submit a medical report at the time of final registration certifying that they have no health condition preventing them from pursuing pharmacy education.

h) The application fee is 1,250 TL (Turkish Lira) and must be paid online by credit card/debit card. You can pay the fee by following the steps in the APPLICATION SYSTEM. Applications of candidates who fail to pay the fee will not be evaluated. The application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances, and it will not be deducted from the tuition fee of accepted students.

i) For candidates applying, there is no validity period restriction for high school exit exams approved by the Council of Higher Education, such as ABITUR, International Baccalaureate, GCE, TAWJIHI, and similar exams. However, for university entrance exams such as SAT, TR-YÖS, and similar exams, the validity period is two years.

NOTES:

Candidates applying with GCE (A Level) must calculate their exam score by converting their letter grades to the corresponding numerical values listed below, summing them, and dividing by the number of subjects.

Numerical equivalents of letter grades:

A & A+ = 100, B = 90, C = 80, D = 70, E = 60, F = 50

Required number of A Level, AS Level, and GCSE / O Level subjects to be considered a high school graduate:

Option 1 (Five Subjects):

2 A Levels + 3 O Levels (GCSE) (minimum grade D / value 4)

2 A Levels + 1 AS Level + 2 O Levels (GCSE) (minimum grade D / value 4)

Option 2 (Four Subjects):

3 A Levels + 1 O Level (GCSE) (minimum grade D / value 4)

Formula for converting Secondary Education Score to a 100-Point Scale:

Equivalent on 100-point scale = (Secondary Education GPA ÷ Maximum Score of the Graduated System) × 100

Formula for converting TR-YÖS Score to a 100-point scale:

Equivalent on 100-point scale = (TR-YÖS Score − 100) ÷ 4

EVALUATION AND PLACEMENT

At the Higher Education General Assembly Meeting held on November 23, 2023, it was decided that the rules regarding exams conducted by universities and their entrance exams (YÖS) would be cancelled, and that TR-YÖS would be accepted for the admission of international students. Accordingly, students will not be admitted based on exam results (YÖS) conducted by our university or other universities.

a) Placements will be made according to the exam scores in groups A, B, and C defined in Table 1. If vacancies remain in group A, group B will be considered; if vacancies remain in group B, group C will be considered.

b) In case of a tie, priority is given to the Secondary Education GPA (for groups A and B). If a tie still exists, placement is based on the candidate’s preference order. If a tie persists even after this, the younger candidate is given priority (applies to groups A, B, and C).

c) The 20% country quota will not be applied.

d) Candidates who have been placed in a program cannot reapply during additional placement, regardless of whether they have completed online pre-registration at our university.

e) Candidates whose applications were approved but who were not placed in any of their preferred programs will not be required to pay the application fee again to apply for additional placement.

f) According to the Turkish Citizenship Law, candidates who were Turkish citizens by birth but lost citizenship through a renunciation permit from the Ministry of Interior, candidates who hold a Blue Card granted upon request after losing Turkish citizenship, and dual nationals with Turkish citizenship who completed their entire high school education abroad (excluding TRNC schools) cannot exceed 10% of the foreign student quota for the Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy programs.

g) Tuition fees are determined by our University Senate, taking into account the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette every July, and will be announced at https://www.ktu.edu.tr/oidb/uluslararasiogrenci. (If temporary registrations are made before the publication of the Presidential Decree, candidates will pay the tuition fee of the previous year. Any difference will be collected from students after the 2025–2026 tuition fees are announced.)

h) Placement results will be announced on the university’s website on the specified date, and candidates will be informed via e-mail. No written notification will be sent.
