Trabzon

Trabzon is one of the oldest cities located in northern Turkey, on the Black sea coast. The city was first mentioned in history in the 9th century BC. Trabzon was an important city of the Roman and Byzantine Empires. It was also the capital of the Empire of Trebizond from 1204 to 1461. During the reign of Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror, Trabzon became a part of the Ottoman Empire in 1461.  There are many historical and natural attractions to visit in and around the city, such as the Hagia Sophia of Trabzon, the Trabzon Castle, the Sümela Monastery, the Kuştul Monastery, the Kaymaklı Monastery, the Vazelon Monastery, the Kızlar Monastery, the Fatih Mosque, the Yeni Cuma Mosque, the Nakip Mosque, the İskender Pasha Mosque, Lake Uzungöl, and Pontic Mountains.

Karadeniz Technical University

Karadeniz Technical University, founded on 20th May 1955, is the 4th oldest and one of the largest universities in Turkey. It has 80 departments in 17 faculties, 7 institutes, and 4 vocational schools with more than 2000 academic teaching staff and 58000 students. KTU Pharmacy is the first pharmacy faculty in Karadeniz region of Turkey with a very dynamic academic staff active in both education and research. Faculty of Pharmacy has been accepting students since 2011 and our first graduating class was in the summer of 2016.

The main campus of KTU is considered to be one of the most beautiful campuses in Turkey offering many different social, cultural and sports clubs within several facilites.

Trabzon’s international airport is situated only 5 minutes from the main campus, with direct flighst to various cities in Turkey, Europe and Central Asia.
