Vocational School of Health Services was founded under the Rectorate of Karadeniz Technical University on 25.11.1989, in accordance with the letter of the Council of Higher Education dated 13.12.1989 and numbered BÖ/0706002/3648-266143 and the law no. 2547 and article 7/b-2 of the amendment made to the law no. 2880.

Vocational School of Health Services first started education with Nursing and Medical Laboratory associate degree programs. Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program was opened in the 1996-1997 academic year. Due to the transition to undergraduate education in the Nursing Program in the 1997-1998 academic year, the Nursing Program was separated from the Vocational School. Radiology (Medical Imaging Techniques) Program was opened in the 2001-2002 academic year. In the 2005-2006 academic year, the Biomedical Device Technologies Program at Trabzon Vocational School was incorporated into the Vocational School of Health Services, and was separated again in the 2008-2009 academic year. With the opening of the First and Emergency Aid Program in the 2014-2015 academic year, the number of existing programs increased to 4.

Vocational School of Health Services continues its educational activities with a total of 492 active students in Medical Laboratory Techniques, Medical Documentation and Secretarial, Medical Imaging Techniques and First and Emergency Aid Programs under the Department of Medical Services and Techniques. Educational activities are carried out with the support of 15 full-time faculty members within the Vocational School of Health Services and faculty members within the KTU Faculty of Medicine.

Vocational School of Health Services is located in the central Kanuni Campus of Karadeniz Technical University, in the same campus as the Faculty of Medicine. This allows students to easily benefit from the dormitory, dining hall, library, gym, medico-social and other social and cultural units and activities on campus. It is also in a very advantageous location as it is 5.6 km away from Trabzon city centre.
