The Human Resources Career Congress and Fair Has Begun at Our University
The “Human Resources Career Congress and Fair,” organized by the Career Development Application and Research Center of Karadeniz Technical University (KTU), started with an opening ceremony held at the KTU Osman Turan Culture and Congress Center.
The ceremony was attended by Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin GENÇ, Trabzon Chief Public Prosecutor Sedat ÇELİK, KTU Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk URSAVAŞ, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ali TEMİZ, Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TTSO) President Erkut ÇELEBİ, Director of the Career Development Application and Research Center Prof. Dr. Hülya KALAYCIOĞLU, as well as public and private sector provincial directors, academics, students, and invited guests.
“KTU is adding an academic dimension to career fairs”
The opening speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Hülya KALAYCIOĞLU, Director of our university’s Career Development Application and Research Center. Prof. Dr. KALAYCIOĞLU emphasized that KTU is a pioneering university in Türkiye in terms of human resource development and stated the following: “Today, we are achieving another first. For the first time, alongside a career fair, we are also hosting a comprehensive series of panels. By coming together with human resources unit managers from other universities, we will create a common vision regarding career development across the country and being companions to students on their journey. Throughout the event, we are bringing students together with panels, presentations, and institutions present in the fair area. I extend my thanks to all stakeholders who have contributed to this process.”
“Higher education plays a leading role in the development of human capital”
Our university’s Acting Rector and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk URSAVAŞ stated that higher education institutions are not only producers of knowledge but also play a fundamental role in the development of human capital, stating,“Higher education institutions are not limited to the production, sharing, or storage of knowledge; they also assume a leading role in the development of our human capital. As the academic community, we are obliged to solve the problems of the business world and support the employment of human capital there.”
Prof. Dr. URSAVAŞ drew attention to the importance of developing interdisciplinary solutions to today’s multidimensional problems and continued his remarks as follows: “Challenges can no longer be solved with classical methods. Therefore, universities must revise themselves, update their programs, and provide new environments for the development of students’ knowledge and skills. Moreover, a livable environment is an inseparable part of this process. I also thank our Metropolitan Municipality Mayor for the projects that contribute to Trabzon’s scientific ecosystem.”
“Our greatest strength is our youth, who will transform knowledge into human capital”
Speaking at the ceremony, Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin GENÇ stated that human resources are the most important element for the development of societies and said the following: “Countries may possess many resources; however, it is of great importance that these resources are blended with knowledge and transformed for the benefit of humanity. Today, we live in a world where power is achieved through knowledge. Our greatest responsibility is to ensure that this power is used not against humanity but on the basis of rights and justice.” Mayor GENÇ emphasized that the youth will build Türkiye’s future and concluded his remarks as follows:
“In the second century of our Republic, I believe that our youth, with their knowledge, experience, and determination, will carry our country toward the ideal of a fully independent Türkiye. Our greatest strength is you, the youth, who will transform knowledge into human capital. Therefore, such events are of great importance not only for careers but also for production for the benefit of humanity. I congratulate KTU and the entire team that contributed.”
In the sessions on the first day, panels were held on the themes of “Transformation in HR and Future HR Trends,” “University and Industry Cooperation in Career Management,” and “Entrepreneurship and Innovation.” Students and participants gained valuable insights into career planning and current developments in human resources from leading figures in the field.
The Congress and fair, which will continue until Friday, November 7, will provide students and participants with opportunities to gain industry-related knowledge through panels and career-focused sessions, as well as to communicate directly with professionals.
