The Karadeniz Technical University International Advisory Board Meeting, organized under the leadership of our university's Internationalization Office, took place online on December 13, 2023, at 15:00 (Turkish Standard Time).

The online meeting, where the internationalization strategies of our university were discussed, saw the participation of representatives from various universities. Participants included: our Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Halil İbrahim OKUMUŞ, General Coordinator of the Office of Exchange Programs Prof. Dr. Ercan KÖSE, Internationalization Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgür TÜFEKÇİ, the team from the Office of Exchange Programs, International Working Group Members, Deans of Faculties and Directors of Graduate Schools, and KTU International Advisory Board Members; Prof. Dr. Arthur BURNETT (Johns Hopkins University), Prof. Dr. Ayman S. MOSALLAM (University of California), Prof. Dr. Atilla İNCECİK (University of Strathclyde), Prof. Dr. Chi-Chang CHANG (Chung Shan Medical University, Taiwan), Prof. Dr. Asaf VAROL (University of Tennessee), Prof. Dr. Mariusz STEPIEN (Silesian University of Technology), Prof. Dr. Germán F. de la FUENTE (University of Zaragoza), Prof. Dr. Ayşe AYHAN (Hamamatsu University), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ervina Efzan Mhd NOOR (Multimedia University), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Styliani LEFAKI (Aristotle University).

The online meeting, which began with the opening speech by our Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, continued with the introduction of the members of the KTU International Advisory Board and a presentation by Prof. Dr. Chi-Chang CHANG, providing information about his previous visit to KTU and collaborative efforts.

Moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ulaş Kutsi ÇEZİK, Assistant Coordinator of Internationalization from the Department of International Relations, the online meeting proceeded with an informative presentation. The presentation covered the physical and academic facilities available at our university for members of the International Advisory Board, statistical data on the scientific and academic achievements of our university over the years, and information about our university's internationalization strategies and its position in international university rankings.

The members of the International Advisory Board highlighted the ongoing development of Karadeniz Technical University, particularly in the field of patents, in recent years. They emphasized the importance of "University-Industry Collaboration" in terms of production and employment, the potential contribution of adopting an interdisciplinary education approach to the academic success process, the positive impact of international collaborations, as well as activities such as summer schools and workshops for students. They also emphasized the necessity of activities to increase cultural diversity in the educational environment, the importance of English-language education programs, especially in postgraduate programs, and the effective use of research centers for the visibility of conducted research.

The Karadeniz Technical University International Advisory Board Meeting concluded with the sharing of experiences and suggestions by the members of the International Advisory Board with our university's academicians. The meeting involved discussions on internationalization strategies, and after consultations between the International Advisory Board members and our university's academicians, participants expressed their wishes for any form of academic and cultural collaboration. The meeting concluded with the closing speech by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI.
