Film Analysis Activity within the Scope of the Course
"In the course of Principles of Management and Ethics, the film Modern Times (1936) was screened and analyzed.
A film analysis was conducted with first-year students of the Department of Health Management. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Sedat BOSTAN and Research Assistant Ahmet Y. YEŞİLDAĞ, the film Modern Times (1936) was watched, and discussions were held based on key themes relating to the field of management principles.
With the aim of providing a more memorable and engaging learning experience, discussions were held on various concepts depicted in the film, including the 1929 Economic Depression, the social, economic, and commercial impacts of economic crises (employment, unemployment, theft, family, etc.), Mass Production-Mass Consumption, Fordism-Taylorism, Classical Management Approach, Assembly Line Production, Worker Rights and Benefits, Development of Labor Unions, Right to Strike, Automation, X-Type Manager, Authoritarian Exploitative Leadership, Control, Horizontal Division of Labor, Specialization, Work Studies, Standardization, Productivity, Process Improvement, Occupational Health and Safety Measures, Onboarding Training, and various aspects such as Referral Nepotism. Discussions also covered New Management Approaches, Personnel Tracking Systems, Poka-Yoke Process Stopping, Work-Life Balance, Organizational Cynicism, and Customer Expectations."
