Students from the Department of Software Engineering at Karadeniz Technical University achieved a significant international success at the Huawei ICT Competition 2025–2026 Global Final.

The KTU Computing Team, consisting of Efekan ÇAKIR, Toprak Ekin YÜKSEL, and Mete GÖKHAN, under the supervision of Dr. Merve YILDIRIM, ranked third in the world at the Global Final held in Shenzhen, China, successfully representing both the University and Türkiye.

Before the Global Final, the team became European Champions by winning the prestigious “Grand Prize” award at the European Final.

This year’s competition brought together more than 220,000 students and educators from over 2,000 universities across more than 100 countries. During the Global Final, teams were evaluated through an intensive hands-on laboratory exam based on real-world scenarios, testing their technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, time management, and teamwork skills.

This achievement highlights the strong academic foundation, practice-oriented education, and international competitiveness of the Software Engineering Department.

The Consul General of Türkiye in Guangzhou, Adnan HAYAL, also congratulated the KTU Computing Team during the award ceremony.
