Located in the Kanuni campus of Karadeniz Technical University, the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, carries out education and research activities by offering experienced and wide opportunities. In our department, there are 28 Prof. Dr., 5 Associate Professor Dr., 1 Lecturer Dr., 1 Lecturer, 1 Research Assistant Dr., 10 Research Assistant. and 8 administrative and technical personnel are on duty.

Our Chemistry Department started undergraduate education in the 1969-1970 academic year; "Chemical engineering" education was provided between 1972 and 1980. The Department of Chemistry also offers service courses and laboratory application courses to many departments affiliated with Karadeniz Technical University. Chemistry Master's and Doctorate education started in our department in the 1983-1984 academic year.

In our Chemistry Department, there are departments of Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry. In addition, depending on these branches of science, there are application courses such as Analytical Chemistry Laboratory, General Chemistry Laboratory, Physical Chemistry Laboratory, Organic Chemistry Laboratory, Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, Industrial Chemistry Laboratory, Biochemistry Laboratory, Instrumental Analysis Laboratory. All these application laboratories are offered to all our students as -I and -II coded courses on a semester basis. In addition, a total of 40 Postgraduate Research Laboratories belonging to all departments within our department serve our research faculty members and assistants.
