In the 1983-1984 academic year, the department initiated Master's and PhD. programs in Chemistry.
The Department of Chemistry has major divisions in Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Analytical Chemistry. Practical courses, such as Analytical Chemistry Laboratory, General Chemistry Laboratory, Physical Chemistry Laboratory, Organic Chemistry Laboratory, Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, Industrial Chemistry Laboratory, Biochemistry Laboratory, and Instrumental Analysis Laboratory, are offered based on these divisions. All these practical laboratories are provided to all students in the form of courses with "-I" and "-II" codes on a semester basis.
