Mission
The Department of Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering is dedicated to training qualified officers for both Türkiye and the global maritime industry to international standards. Additionally, it addresses the educational and certification needs of mariners in Türkiye and the countries around the Black Sea by providing STCW training, thus filling the gaps both in terms of education and certification. Conducting academic research for the development of Turkish and global maritime industries and contributing these findings to the maritime sector are among the priorities of the Department of Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering at Sürmene Faculty of Marine Sciences. Its fundamental goal is to educate students as disciplined, inquisitive, broad-minded individuals capable of making quick and accurate decisions, possessing leadership and managerial qualities. Furthermore, the Department contributes to the tracking of innovations, knowledge transfer, and social improvement among its staff members.
Vision
The vision of the Department of Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering at Sürmene Faculty of Marine Sciences is to contribute to the resolution of issues within the Turkish and global maritime sectors, while producing individuals who will enhance satisfaction, achievements, and development within this industry.
