The Department of Russian Language and Literature was established within the Faculty of Science and Letters upon the decision of the Faculty Board dated 30 December 2008 and numbered 180/1, the proposal of the University Senate dated 30 December 2009 and numbered 22/8, and the approval of the Executive Board of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in accordance with Article 7/2-d of Law No. 2547, as amended by Law No. 2880.

In an environment where cultures and languages intersect, contributing to universality requires a level of foreign language education that enables individuals to become acquainted with the language, literature, and culture of another country, to comprehend similarities and differences with their own, and to transform this knowledge into an advantage in their professional lives. With this educational awareness, our department has established its foundational structure and academic staff through a qualified team and commenced its educational activities as of 2015.
